Winter in the Lofoten Islands Photo Workshop – 8th-25th February 2025

We’ll be completely honest here: the workshops we ran in Norway in 2025 weren’t the best ones. The weather really tricked us, and specially on the first date (10th-16th February) we got pretty much a full week of rain alternated with some very brief openings.

Full disclosure: what you see in the gallery below is the result of 21 days spent up there, for a total of 2 different workshops.

It’s safe to say that the first group was the least lucky – possibly the worst weather we ever got on any workshop, everywhere. We managed to see the northern lights only once on the very last night of the tour; the only highlight was an explosive sunset at Vareid (the image with the waves movement in the foreground), which resulted in our favorite image of the trip – but that was just one sunset out of a week of terrible weather.

Warm temperatures meant we got rain instead of snow, and that rain washed out almost all the snow on the ground too.

The second group got a bit luckier, with a few more interesting situations and a couple northern lights nights, but overall still fairly bad weather.
